Green Mountain Beer Company is the result of a shared vision by a small group of friends.

Formerly a worker at Big Corporate Brewery, head brewer Brian Milhaupt was fascinated by the craft of brewing and was inspired to master the artisanal old world Europe styles of beer.  Batch after batch, his brews gradually improved to the point that the friends he shared it with repeatedly told him his beer was so good, he ought to sell it. Their encouragement got the wheels turning and soon, Brian decided he would open a brewery. Before long, Brian's wife Liz and his climbing buddy Cassidy with his girlfriend Brandi were on board.

But finding where to put the brewery turned out to be a big challenge. As they say in real estate "Location, location, location!", true as can be for breweries. As time passed, the team searched all over the Western half of the Denver area, and finally found the ideal location in Lakewood, Colorado at the intersection of Morrison Road and Kipling Street, on the southeastern flank of the brewery's namesake, Green Mountain.  After working out the details of transforming the empty space into a brewery, the team began the process of actualizing the vision set in motion years earlier.

Work on the brewery officially began in late 2015. The tables and bar top are built from the retired 1950's era bowling lanes at Golden Bowl. We designed our brewery as an open brewing and tasting room. A large patio and food truck lane were added.  Our custom 15 barrel brewing system was built in the USA by Crawford Company in Rock Island, IL.

GMBC officially opened to the public in November of 2016 and received a warm welcome by the community. We are family-friendly, dogs are welcome on the patio, and are located near several restaurants.

Our beer is now able to be found at a growing number of quality restaurants all over town.

Stop by soon, we can't wait to meet you!
